Just Keep Swimming, Just Keep Swimming


It is that time of year again, that time where students are beginning a new phase of life, one that is post-college. Some students will pursue an advanced degree immediately but most will not. It is at this point that students become the worker and they are finally done being the student. It has been discovered that 42% of people of college graduates never read another book after college. In my opinion, this then relates to the decline of everyday learning.

Living in the information age where there is an ocean of knowledge just ready for us to explore and everything being at our fingertips; this should not be the case. We should just keep swimming.

[Just Keep Swimming] by doing a Google search for the Word of the Day
[Just Keep Swimming] by having a serious conversation with others about current events
[Just Keep Swimming] by reading a book on a topic of interest

And if you do not know how to swim, look that up too.

I’m here to say that you are not and should not think of yourself as just a worker but always a student that is a worker that just keeps swimming in the vastness of information. Actually, your studentship has just begun as we continue to learn new things of life, so why not take the extra step and stretch ourselves to be a little prepared.

What's Next?....Going the Extra Mile

So you have your degree now, what’s next? You find that nice eight to five job with great benefits but now you want something more, something bigger, something better; what’s next? You could go for your Master’s, but everyone is getting a Master’s these days. How about getting certified in your discipline or an area of interest? Dang it!! I can't find it...

Several times when surfing the net I often stumble upon websites that have huge, Grand Canyon size, marketing gaps that are super easy to fix but are never fixed. These gaps are not some elaborate textbook marketing theory techniques or fabulous design colors and typography; it is simply general information about the business. It is information such as phone numbers, mission statements, profiles on About Us pages, hours of operations, location, event dates, and plenty more.
